Tutoring for Student Athletes

In Quebec there are over 600 Student Athlete (Sport-études) programs. These programs aim to help student athletes registered with a federation to practise their sport and succeed in their secondary education. Student Athlete programs enable student athletes to balance their academic and sporting goals, provided that they prioritise their academic success. When enrolling in such a program, students must be prepared for a more intense rhythm of learning than in regular school programs due the reduced amount of time spent in class. Therefore, student athletes must be very autonomous and dedicated in order to succeed.

Student athletes in Student Athlete programs must also deal with a significant amount of schoolwork in a condensed time frame. Time management, preparation for exams and strong study strategies are thus essential to the success of students in Student Athlete programs.
