Writing is an inevitable part of school life. It is required in every subject to some extent – even math! If you would like to improve the quality of your writing, here are a few tips to get you started.
Quick Tips:
- Mix it up – they say that variety is the spice of life, so upgrade your language quickly by avoiding repetition of words or expressions.
- Leave the introduction for last – a blank page can be the worst part of writing anything, so the best thing to do is simply start writing. You can start by jotting down ideas to form a plan or go straight into writing the key arguments you want to communicate; you can always return later to make corrections and edits.
Long-term:
- Keep reading – the more you read, the wider will be your vocabulary and understanding of grammar. What you read almost does not matter: comics, fiction, biographies, or encyclopedias – just read what you enjoy and keep exploring.
- Write for fun – maybe you would love to know more about black holes and share your knowledge, maybe your head is teeming with stories waiting to be told – choose what you want to write about. Another idea is to take 5 minutes at the end of the day to keep a journal of your thoughts and experiences.
